Now that the craziness of the holidays has passed, we were finally able to squeeze a call in last night.
We haven’t talked in so long that our conversation went off on many tangents. It’s OK, though; no one minds.
When it comes to Carmen’s murder, the details of the case are fuzzy at best. The “facts” about her case are largely unknown – in my opinion – due to the sometimes-vicious and imaginative rumor mill that circulates through Odessa. The more people Charlie talks to, the more specifics about her murder don’t add up.
Why doesn’t anyone know what really happened in this case?
The fact that the murder is practically a folk tale is not surprising. Odessa was a small town back then, and Carmen was a young, beautiful girl who was taken from this world in a heinous and gruesome way. My issue really lies with the sheriff’s department. Why did they let the rumor mill get so out of control?
I just don’t get it.
Charlie tells me almost every call that he wants to report the facts in this book – nothing else. In his life, the truth has been stranger than fiction. Embellishments will not be necessary.
I also got approval to talk about why Charlie hated authority – or perhaps the best way to say it is that he hated bullies. I’m not going to share that until the book, though. The reason is pretty darn awesome.
I can’t wait to see where 2017 takes us!
Say a prayer for me,
K. E.
So many pieces of the puzzle missing! I so look forward to the book!
