Our call last night was mostly uneventful. Mostly.
It began with me finding a tick on my head, screaming (a little), and rushing off to find a pair of pliers to kill it.
Ticks are bad news, especially up here in Northern Virginia. Lyme Disease is no joke.
We also talked about chickens a little bit. Yes, chickens. I have chickens and the stupid things haven’t figured out how to roost. They just huddle together on the ground all night, completely ignoring their nice, warm, covered roosting area.
You never know where our conversations will take us these days.
After our very random small talk, we discussed the form letter I created for requesting records. We’re thinking of having multiple people send it in to Ector County, asking to see files and documents relating to Carmen’s murder. We will have to figure out if the trouble is worth it, though. We don’t want to drive the Records Clerk crazy… yet.
It’s odd that Odessa PD has already replied to my request, but we’ve heard nothing from Ector County. Both law enforcement agencies must comply with the laws set forth by the Texas Public Information Act, which essentially states that the agency must “promptly produce” the requested records within ten days – unless they have sought an Attorney General’s opinion.
I wonder if our request is making its way to the AG’s office?
Say a prayer for me,
K. E.
