We started by talking about Odessa last night – the land of high school football and pump jacks. It’s difficult for me to imagine what it looks like; I’ve never been to Texas – or anywhere close to it.
It’s hard to picture a landscape that is flat. Where I live, there are hills and valleys full of green. Our major export in this area is apples – not oil.
We talked about how the clubs were split in the late 70s and early 80s. There were more trendy ones that played Disco-type stuff and then there were ones that played Country Western. Graham’s was on the trendy side, and thus attracted a younger crowd.
We also began to outline our video for the Kickstarter campaign last night. I’ve followed the traditional publishing route before, but times have changed. Self-publishing seems to be our best option. The funds will be used to publish some books and visit Odessa. I need to see all of these places we’ve been talking about.
I heard a new saying last night: “If you want to raise a family, go to Midland. If you want to raise hell, go to Odessa.”
I guess I need to raise some hell.
Say a prayer for me,
K. E.
