Somehow, there’s another boxer whose name has come up in relation to the murder. This one was accused by his wife – now ex-wife – of killing Carmen. We don’t even know if the guy was at the club that night.
The man is actually dead now, but you’ll never believe where his ex-wife’s family lives! As I’ve already said, there’s no such thing as coincidence in this. I’m going to save that detail for later, but needless to say, we’re going to try to get in touch with her to see why she thought her former husband was responsible for such a brutal crime.
She may have just been mad at the guy one day and said something she didn’t mean… who knows. It’s a lead, so we need to try to follow it.
Charlie told me about a story last night from when he went to see an old friend who has brain damage from an accident in the ’80s. This particular visit was sometime around 2001. Charlie doesn’t remember even saying this, but the man’s mother recently brought up that he said something to her out of the blue like, “I didn’t kill that girl in the eighties.”
Charlie says that she must have been looking at him funny.
Can you imagine feeling like everyone is looking you over, trying to decide if you’re a murderer?
Welcome to Charlie Hostetter’s life for the last 35 years.
Say a prayer for me (and Charlie),
K. E.
