Business CardsOne thing is certain: the more we get into this story, the more random our phone calls are getting. Last night, we went over about a thousand different things.

We talked about Charlie’s old manager, Doug Lord, and his son, Richard. Apparently, Richard is a true fitness guru; he’s trained people from all walks of life – from celebrities to University of Texas athletes. He also trained Charlie for many fights.

We then talked about some new interviews that we need to get scheduled. One friend who wants to chat with us is retired from law enforcement. Another was with Charlie during a memorable street fight. I’m surprised that so many people are open to talking to me. No one has ever met me, yet they are willing to share their stories, thoughts, and feelings with me.

People from Odessa are pretty amazing.

Charlie has been hitting up those amazing people with some business cards that we made to promote the book. He puts them on cars, leaves piles at businesses, and even sends them off with his bill payments. He is so focused while he’s distributing them that he’s put them on his friends’ cars without realizing it.

He’s our one-man sales team.

Even though he is single-handedly marketing our book all over Odessa, Charlie never takes himself too seriously. Some of his friends call him “The Rev” (for Reverend), but Charlie says he started to call himself “Chuckles” about five years ago. It just makes people laugh, and we can all use a good laugh sometimes.

Chuckles “The Rev” Hostetter is one of a kind, no doubt. I can’t wait to see where his story takes us next.

Say a prayer for me,

K. E.
